The first step in addressing the problem is identifying the issue and cause. Our IICRC certified mold technicians are trained to identify the mold issue, and attack it at it's source.
When it comes to mitigating and remediating mold, moisture is always the cause. The most ideal condition for mold growth is stagnant air, and a high humidity environment. Like tireless detectives, our mold technicians . From attics to crawlspaces, our IICRC certified inspectors use a tried and true process to find out why moisture is causing a mold issue.
Our 12 point inspection outlines the most likely culprits like leaky plumbing or improper ventilation.
Another part of the inspection process is identifying what type of mold we are dealing with. Stachybotrys chartarum, which is also known as Black Mold is considered one of the most dangerous types of molds in the home. The mycotoxins this mold produces are what make it dangerous to men women children and even pets.
How you do something is sometimes more important than what you do it for. The goal of mold containment is to limit the spread of mold throughout the rest of the building. We use a limited containment process and sealing off the affected area to limit the potential spread of mold to other areas of the home.
Using negative pressure systems and air scrubbers, we inhibit the spread of spores to other areas of the home.
Once the affected areas have been contained, we start the actual remediation process. Using air scrubbers that minimize the airborne mold count, we physically remove the mold from the affected substrate. Most often, finished surfaces like wet and infected drywall must be physically removed and discarded. Simply treating with mold inhibitors or "bleach solutions" will not properly remediate this problem. In some cases, we use dry ice blasting to eliminate mold from contaminated surfaces.
Once the mold is removed, surfaces are disinfected using electrostatic disinfection systems and then dried. This ensures all mold spores are properly mitigated before we move on to the rebuilding process.
Finally, we can replace with fresh new surfaces like drywall, paint or new flooring. Our teams also ensure any mess created during the entire process is cleaned to IICRC cleaning standards.
